The idea of cooling a greenhouse with thermal buoyancy and wind dates back to the start of managed environment. All greenhouses built just before the 1950’s experienced some kind of vents or louvers which were opened to enable the excess heat to flee and cooler outside air to enter.
When polyethylene was developed with large sheets within the whole roof, placing vents on the top proved difficult.
